BUSINESS PROBLEMS
BayanTel long-term objective is to be the most preferred telecommunications provider in the Philippines. It presents a major challenge to their network and engineering department who needs to be more efficient in troubleshooting and providing new services. Engineers find it very difficult to locate accurate information as they dig through thousands of drawings in storage rooms. Their customer databases are not integrated with their network infrastructure which makes decision making process very difficult.

SOLUTIONS
Abelardo Gaitana, GIS Manager, contacted Pacific Data Resources Inc (PDR) to build a comprehensive network infrastructure management solution. PDR started building the foundation by creating intelligent maps by digitizing paper maps and converting AutoCAD drawing into AutoCAD Map format. The maps were published using Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise where customer databases were integrated into the maps that resulted in a very powerful decision support system.

The solution provides BayanTel with an easy to use tool to manage their facility and network infrastructure. Drawing files like as-built plans, plant designs, and data files of facilities and equipment were integrated resulting in an intelligent georeferenced map. User can query, edit and update the system via the web 24 hours a day.All plant records are stored in a centralized server that can be dynamically viewed by engineering, sales and customer service.
